Milestones: Adventures of a 3 year old. Episode: "Don't touch"

These few days have been full of baking for a friend's wedding. So for the past fewdays this week, Seth woke up to the smells of oatmeal raisin, shortbread and biscotti. Yesterday, he was busy playing in the living room when i brought the brownies out from the oven to cool. I normally place the pan immediately on the cool (clean) marble floor to cool it down for a short while as the table space was fully occupied. He immediately came to inspect the pan, and being told it was "hot" and "don't touch" -- he went back to the carpet area to continue playing.

A bit later when the pan of brownies had cooled off quite a bit, I was washing up the baking stuff when I heard a little mellow voice said, "NIce" in a little sing-song manner. Then again, another, "Nice". I peeked and he was looking at the tray of brownies. He next thing I knew, his little hand was on one side of the , lightly touching the brownie. Then I said to him, "dont touch". As I quickly came out to remove it, I saw his little mouth was kissing the side of the brownie. hahaahaha. Goodness. Obeying the letter of the word, he "did not touch" it, but, well, he licked it. Yikes.

I had to cut off a whole portion of the brownie and the surrounding areas! He, however, looked very happy. And quickly took up the whole chunk and was happily munching it in his hand. I had to remove it from him and slice it smaller.

This morning, when he came out from the bedroom, he quickly looked around the tables and the floor to see whether any goodies were lying around... it was so funny. :) Life if fun with a child around. I really enjoy his presence :) Makes life so much more colourful and beautiful. Can't wait for more to come! Next time I will just have to bake extra.. so someone does not have to get so deprived till they resort to "kissing" or doing anything illegal. ahem.
