Milestones & Challenges: Speech Theraphy Assessment

During Little Boy's growing years - well, he's just three, almost 4. I have often wondered about his ability to vocalise his thoughts. I could see one of his friends who attended playschool since one or so, could speak at age of one. Actually he is so much more "grown up" in speech compared with others his age. That is quite impressive.

Another peer, who had siblings, was able to speak and communicate at 3 and informed me that that the computer was not working at his home. I thought that was really good.

Our little Boy, is somewhat - perhaps, a bit quiet when it comes to speech. I blame the parents, us. Because I think I have not been reading to him as much, or speaking with him. And at home, we crazy couple, communicate quite a bit via email, and chat, and only some days in a month, have heart to heart chats for fun. I guess, as LB did not manage to hear so much conversation from his parents, he is now somewhat become a quieter child. Or is that really the case?

So we have decided to send him for a speech theraphy assessment.
I supposed at the end of it, we might get advice of what activities, and intentionally, I am sending him to playschool starting mid July.

But two nights ago, I discovered, LB has perfect pitch and could match the scales of "Do re mi fa so" accurately. He drums spontaneously on the drums: inclusive of the high hats, and bass drum as well - rather well. Better than me, actually, since he has rhythmn and consistent beat as well.

I write these observations - so we remember these things, and see how we can help. So I am planning to teach him to sing: and perhaps, we will see faster improvements in his speech expression - once he starts singing. All these so that he will not feel frustrated (as it is starting to happen now) when he wants to communicate. He loves to sing, after all.
