"The Lord is a very present help in times of trouble..."
I guess the hardest part or rather, the most challenging part of creating a cake for an event is not the baking aspect. Baking, is usually fine, as long as the recipe works.
A week or so ago, someone asked me for a cake for her 21st bday. That being a social milestone age (yup, you can vote after that..hehehe), was a very special event for a special person. When I asked the birthday girl what she wanted, she finally settled at something floral and cartoony. Being a person who usually leap first before looking (sigh... yes, it needs to change), I happily answered ok, and left it at that. Few days into the week, the baking deadline was drawing near. (After all, a week is only 7 days) and a week and half is about 10 days... I was still unsettled about the design. The bday girl has very generously allowed me to do whatever in the category of "floral and cartoony". She said she likes colours like green, red... it sounded like primary colours.
As Bible says, there is nothing new under the sun.... hehehe. I tried surfing the net for inspiring ideas. There were lovely cakes all around. But it's hard to bake something unless it "fits" the baker's personality as well. It also had to be something I would like... heheh. A dear fellow baker from Down Under said once that I should take the opportunity to explore designs I like. We were chatting about designs direction then. Friday arrived, and I had to bake the cakes. No more delay. The noose felt tighter as Sat was THE DAY. yikes. (I had tried indulging in escapism and thought on another upcoming project). I caught fellow baker online, and she suggested "wildflowers". The idea was lovely. Then I had to make a "wacky" cake. So I prayed for something cartoony, fun and yet "stylish" -- well, at least in my eyes. Googling "happy flowers" brought me to a design site, with lovely cards. Then I saw the image of some flowers on a piece of stationery.
This was the result after some daydreaming and sketching, plus improvisation due to insufficient time. This is to say, Thanks, dear fellow baker, for all the care and encouragement. This was truly, a leading of the Lord. :)
The birthday girl said she "really liked it". Despite all the last minute rushes... I am deeply thankful to God for His kind help for this flustered soul. Without which, it might end up being something of a copy of a chocolate factory. hahahaah. phew. relieved.
Now I can go and make the "red fondant". P.s. Dear fellow baker, I actually arrived at crimson, but in a tiny batch last night in all the experimentation of colours. Will tell you all about it - when I have successfully made a large batch :)

Being a good Malaysian, you should place emphasis on photography now. This cake gives the opportunity for stunning images.
You have a beautiful talent.
