"It's time for work"
Life with a new baby is challenging. But God gives grace. This grace enables us to do far beyond what we can think or ask for... (Eph. 1:21). I was straining under the emotional, mental and physical strain of caring for our newborn. In fact, I did crash emotionally and physically for at the first 7th day, and the 14th day. But as I was contemplating whether to grumble, mumble, fumble... the verse, Do all things without murmuring or complaining, came to mind. So I obeyed.
One day, I had a conversation with the Lord. "Tired" was the word that was on my tongue. Then He basically said that this is the promised land. We have been praying for a child for some time. Now baby is here. He kindly explained that in the promised land, the Israelites worked. They had to tend their orchards they inherited, maintain the houses they obtained, and etc -- in short, they had to work. The promised land is a season of work. Work joyfully. Work diligently. Tend your flocks diligently. I repented. Thank God for His kindness in explaining this so this child can see. :)
Now, after a few months, mothering has indeed become easier. It is becoming more enjoyable. It initially felt like a process of developing muscles. One has to undergo pain in straining the muscles. It is also a truly rewarding experience. Thank God too for the encouragement of other mother-friends. :) Now, I realised that mothers are indeed a special breed, and I salute them. I know of some exemplary ones. Care for the young ones, cook, wash, manage the household, be there to support one's own husband, and on top of that: work, work, work, and extend their care to others. (Some also cook to feed the hungry at short notices!) Wow!
May the Lord give grace to this learning new mom... :)
