"Night night"
Sometime last week, I heard Little Boy said, Night Night. It was a new phrase to his vocabulary. This evening, halfway watching Bambi, he took his bolster and laid on top of the bolster on the floor, and said, Night Night.
I looked at him and thought he was probably playing around. he was similing at me with a cheeky expression. Half an hour later, he said again, Night night. Then he came over with his bolster, and wanted me to carry him while he was hugging the bolster.
Now this was NOT a kid's bolster. It is an adult-sized bolster. No doubt it is made of those new material, so it's light. But still... carrying a 13 kg plus kid with a bolster wrapped around his arms.. aint no light task. esp since the bolster is quite long. And it just gets in the way. I had to struggle to carry him in that position.
Finally, I took away the bolster and said, Mama'll carry you without the bolster." And promptly took it and threw it on the sofa temporarily. Little Boy proceeded with a hue and cry. Literally crying non stop. Nothing would console him, even the return of the bolster, or the awkward-struggle-carrying effort the mom put int to carry the boy and bolters together.
Finally, hubby and I brought him to the bedroom. And I arranged the bolster properly at his sleeping spot, and told him to go to bed. After some hesitancy, he finally climbed up to the bed and bugged the bolster, lying on top of it. Soon he was fast asleep. It finally dawned on me, that his NightNight might mean - that he wanted to go to bed. (what a relief that he can finally express himself).
good night too now.
